Thank you for following our blog!

tumblr_m8exlrD0OG1rzp0cno1_1280Thank you to all of you who have continued to read the Thompson Family Update for the last 10 months. We’ve posted the final entry this weekend for what has been an unbelievable journey watching Charlie recover. I know I’m not alone in my feelings of amazement and awe in watching not only Charlie’s perseverance but that of his mom, dad and sister’s as well. What a beautiful picture of hope and healing this family has been for our community! As Charlie is woven back into the fabric of life with friends and school and the extraordinary becomes ordinary again, I pray that we can all keep close at heart how fragile life is and how we must love and live without reservation and be open to all that lies before us.

Peace be with you,

As Kevin pointed out, Charlie continues to adjust and move forward. This week in his therapies, they assessed for new goals as Charlie has mastered so many of the ones he started with. The new goals are geared toward Charlie slowing down, balancing and focusing on a target, task, etc.

These last few weeks there has been gradual improvement of Charlie’s short term memory. The ability to remember details about events and repeat them to others is an important part of how we all connect to each other. There is still a gap and inconsistencies in Charlie’s memories – both short and long term – so we are continuing to follow his lead and wait for him to ask questions. These questions will show us his brain is ready for the blanks to be filled in.

Otherwise, Charlie is looking forward to Spring with warmer temperatures and enjoying his variety of activities (such as the never-ending game of tag he plays with Raeny).

Thank you all for continuing to share this journey with us!

Charlie is home for Christmas! Thank you for all of your prayers and support for this beautiful family. It’s been amazing to witness their strength and love.

Merry Christmas!
